Many women wonder how exercise, and running in particular, can affect their fertility. While exercise in general is great for fertility, too much of any good thing can be bad. This is why some women who exercise excessively can experience amenorrhea, or absence of periods.
In fact, doctors estimate that up to 44 percent of athletic women experience some change in their menstrual cycle. This can make it exceptionally difficult to get pregnant, since a woman will not know when she is fertile if she is not having a regular period.
It is also possible that long term absence of periods can lead to infertility over time. This being said, vigorous exercise as a part of a healthy lifestyle will not lead to fertility problems.
As long as women do not reach an unhealthy underweight level, things should be fine regarding their fertility, as long as their periods are still happening normally. For men, exercise should not affect fertility unless they try to enhance their performance with anabolic steroids.
Talk with your doctor if you are concerned about how your exercise might be affecting your fertility. Regular exercise is fine for fertility, even recommended, unless of course that exercise is too extreme. Make sure to keep it at a normal level to ensure fertility.

Myself and my husband had been trying to get pregnant for 18 months before I was referred to Native Iyabasira fertility solution.
