Newborn baby amazes doctors in Essex by being able to hold a bottle and feed herself at three days old

A baby has stunned doctors by being able to hold up and drink from her bottle on her own.

Little Ammra was able to hold her bottle when she was just three days old, something that none of the doctors at Queen’s Hospital, Romford in Essex where she was born could believe, according to her mother Onyi Chiedozie.

The single mother told NYdailynews.com: ‘[Ammra] was crying as she was hungry and when we were feeding, she started shaking, then she just grabbed the bottle, she was holding it by herself.’

Babies usually only develop the muscle strength and coordination to grasp object between the ages of six months and one year, however when her mother places a bottle in her hands Ammra is able to hold a bottle and feed herself.

Nurses were particularly baffled as Ammra was perfectly healthy and normal sized when she was born, weighing 6 pounds and 3 ounces.

Although Ammra is happy to chug down a bottle of milk, 20-year-old Onyi says she is nursing her on a mix of bottled and breast milk.
