Children will develop a cough at one time or another on many occasions.

While it is not usually something that is cause for concern, it can be irritating for the child. Because of this, it is a good idea to treat a dry cough so that the child can be more comfortable throughout the day or night.

Honey is one of the best treatments that you can give to older children. If the child is over the age of two, you can give them a half a teaspoon of honey to help relieve coughing symptoms. You can also mix a teaspoon of honey with lemon juice and add to water. This treatment can be repeated two or three times each day.

Steam is also something that can be helpful when treating a dry cough in children. While it is usually easiest to inhale the steam of a boiling pot of water, it is usually safer to rely on a steam bath instead. You should also make sure that you have a humidifier in your child’s room to help with this as well.

Finally, lavender oil is one of the best methods that you can use for children who are suffering from a dry cough. It can be used for babies beginning at six months, is easy to apply and is very efficient. Simply rub it on the chest of the child and massage it in gently.
